Position: Mechanic
Main Responsibilities:
Maintain Port Harcourt ICRC vehicle fleet, generators and boats to the required standards
Maximise fleet efficiency and effectiveness through planned preventative maintenance in accordance with internal institutional guidelines or in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations. Ensure that external works are done accordingly
Monitor and control of all fuel consumption including contingency planning
Ensure that all stocks of tools, spare parts and consumables are maintained in good and clean condition. If necessary, purchase locally spare parts folio wing ICRC purchasing procedures
Carry monthly inventories of all stock in accordance with ICRC guidelines
Maintain vehicle, generator and boat files containing all the maintenance and accident history
Operate and maintain ICRC standard fleet computer system if required Liaison with the Vehicle Fleet Manager in Abuja
Required Qualifications:
Minimum five years proven experience in vehicle, generator or boat maintenance, certification required
Experience in maintenance of boat and engines for boat would be an asset
Experience in generator (15Kva upwards) installation and maintenance would be an asset
Previous field experience with commercial, embassies or humanitarian organizations preferred
Good knowledge of written and spoken English
Basic knowledge of computers required: Word, Excel and any fleet program
Ability to work independently and with a sense of initiative
Methodical person with common sense and rigour (good diagnosis and planning capacity)
Strong sense of responsibility and adaptability, able to work overtime when needed
Valid driving license and driving experience

Qualifications

Duties
Under the coordination of the Executive Director:
Assist the BAGASOO Executive Director in carrying out his functions by coordinating and monitoring the administrative activities relating to each BAGASOO staff member and working group.
Coordinate and monitor the activities of the BAGASOO to ensure that they are completed in a timely manner
Work closely with the Executive Director on matters of priority to the BAGASOO and the Civil Aviation Authorities Member States for which urgent decisions are required
Assist in drafting policies/procedures for the BAGASOO
Preparation of financial reports and to ensure that such reports are submitted to the Executive Director on a timely basis
Ensure that the BAGASOO is represented local and international conferences pertaining to Aviation
Keep abreast with issues concerning the BAGASOO that may appear in the regional newspapers and communicate with concerned parties when necessary
Keep abreast with local and international changes in Aviation matters pertaining to safety
Respond to State letters on matters of importance in a timely manner
Maintain an inventory of office equipment and ensuring that they are properly maintained.
Assist in organizing training courses, conferences and seminars hosted by the BAGASOO
Assist with the preparation and monitoring of contracts and projects
Assist in developing relevant employee conditions of service, operational procedures and dealing with matters concerning staff welfare.
Maintain BAGASOO records and technical library
Perform other related duties from time to time.
Act on behalf of Executive Director as necessary as administrative matters for which urgent actions or decisions are required.
Delegate responsibility to assigned personnel when necessary to assist in completing projects assigned by the Executive Director
Coordinate and monitor work assigned by the Executive Director working groups or staff member to ensure timely completion
Establish/implement new operations/administrative procedures subject to approval by the Executive Director.
Salary
Special Service Agreement (SSA) Contract for US $74,787 net per year plus foreign Allowance of US $14, 957 per year in the expert is not form Abuja plus Dependency Allowance of US $54 per year per dependent child up to a maximum of six children. When on mission, the expert will be entitled to Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA) at U.N rate. Travel for mission will be provided by COSCAP participant states or ICAO.

7. Advising or training staff at all levels on core and on-going risk management issues (e.g. anti-fraud practices, the identification of ‘red flags’ and the importance of customer I supplier due-diligence).
